Taylors Lakes Clubs Cruise Into New Pavilions

VIC Premier

The Andrews Labor Government is continuing to support more women and girls in community sport in Taylors Lakes, with two new pavilions.

Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence today officially opened the new sport and community buildings at Delahey Recreation Reserve, made possible by a $375,000 investment from the Labor Government’s Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.

The investment means Taylors Lakes Football Club, ETA Buffalo Soccer Club, and Taylors Lakes Cricket Club can now enjoy preparing for the big games with modern and female friendly change rooms.

The pavilions also feature two umpire rooms, a first aid and social room, as well as a social room and kitchen.

The second pavilion has also been fitted with change rooms set to Football Victoria standards and is positioned closer to the soccer pitch.

Nearby schools and community groups will also be able to use the new pavilions for meetings and events.

The upgrades follow the recent release of the Government’s Fair Access Policy Roadmap that will develop a state-wide consistent foundation to improve the access to, and use of, community sports infrastructure like pavilions for women and girls.

From July 2024, all Victorian councils will need to ensure equitable access to sporting facilities for women and girls to be considered eligible to receive infrastructure funding from the Government.

Since 2014, the Government has invested more than $1.6 billion in community sport and recreation infrastructure.

Minister Spence acknowledged Brimbank City Council for its financial contribution of more than $3.49 million to the project.
