Team Australia named for Warrior Games 2024

Department of Defence

Australians don’t have to wait until the Olympics to see our sporting prowess on the world stage, with a taste of our nations’ talents set to be showcased at the Warrior Games in Orlando, Florida in June.

Today I’m proud to announce the team of 30 current and former serving Defence Force personnel will represent Australia at the Warrior Games, specifically dedicated to supporting the rehabilitation and recovery of veterans who have been wounded, injured or become ill during or as a result of their military service.

Team Australia embodies the values of courage, resilience and mateship, and participation in the Warrior Games not only highlights their athletic talents but also underscores our unwavering commitment to their resilience, rehabilitation and recovery.

Each member of Team Australia has their own story of triumph over adversity.

Through adaptive sports, camaraderie and mutual support, the United States led Warrior Games serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for all those who have faced adversity in the course of their service to the nation.

I commend the Warriors of Team Australia, supported by Invictus Australia and the Australian Defence Force, for their dedication and perseverance, and I wish them the best of luck as they represent Australia on the international stage.

I want to also pay tribute to the families and loved ones of our Team Australia representatives, whose support is so vitally important to their ongoing recovery and resilience.

Adaptive sports will include archery, cycling, sitting volleyball, swimming, track, field, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby, shooting, indoor rowing and powerlifting.
