A teen has been arrested following an investigation into break-ins in Orange earlier this month.
Operation Regional Mongoose is a high-visibility police operation to tackle serious property-related crime, committed predominately by young offenders.
About 3.40am on Thursday 6 June 2024, a Mercedes Vito rammed through gates at a mechanical workshop on Edward Street, Orange, where a motor bike was allegedly stolen.
The Mercedes was located at 8am the same morning on Goorawin Road, Orange, and was seized for forensic examination.
Checks reveal the car was allegedly stolen from a home on Allenby Road overnight.
Following inquiries, about 10.45am police attended a home on Anzac Parade and observed a motor bike in the yard.
After speaking with the owner of the home, the motor bike was seized.
A 19-year-old man was arrested and charged on Sunday (9 June 2024), and remains before the courts.
About 9.35am yesterday (Thursday 13 June 2024), police were patrolling Orchard Grove Road, Orange, when they stopped and spoke to a 14-year-old boy.
A short time later he was arrested and taken to Orange Police Station.
The boy was later released and will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
