Teen charged after electronic tablets worth $21,000 stolen from school in Concord

A teenage boy has been charged after allegedly breaking into two locations and stealing property worth more than $21,000.

It is alleged about 5am on Monday 19 December 2022, two boys forced entry into a school on Menin Road, Matraville, and stole 28 new electronic tablets, valued about $21,000.

Officers attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command attended and commenced inquiries into the incident.

About 2.10am on Tuesday 27 December 2022, three boys allegedly forced entry into a sports club on Claremont Avenue, Concord, and stole alcohol worth almost $700.

Officers attached to Burwood Police Area Command were notified and commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, about 12.30pm yesterday (Thursday 5 January 2023) a search warrant was executed at an address on William Street, Five Dock, with the assistance of South West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad (RES).

A 16-year-old boy was arrested and taken to Burwood Police Station where he was charged with two counts of aggravated break and enter in company and steal.

He was refused bail to appear at a children’s court today (Thursday 6 January 2023).

Police inquiries are continuing.
