Teen charged, vehicle and puppy recovered after aggravated break and enters in Sydney’s south

A teenager has been charged and items – including an eight-week-old puppy – have been seized following a number of aggravated break and enters in Sydney’s south earlier this week.

About 3.30am (Monday 13 December 2021), emergency services were called to a home on Holt Road, Taren Point, after reports of an assault and vehicle theft.

Police will allege three unknown males gained entry to the home and stole a set of keys before they were confronted by a male occupant.

The man, aged 35, was struck in the shoulder with a metal pole before the males stole a white Toyota Corolla and fled the scene.

Officers attached to Sutherland Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

The occupant was treated for minor injuries.

Following inquiries, police located the Toyota Corolla submerged in Botany Bay, Kurnell.

About 6am on the same day, three males gained entry to a home on Kurramatta Place, Cronulla, where a set of keys and a Ford Escape were taken from the premises.

No one was injured and the incident was reported to police.

On Tuesday evening (14 December 2021), a male gained entry to a home on Gambier Place, Sandy Point.

He fled a short time later, taking items including car keys, a Mercedes Benz, various cases of beer, wine and spirits, and an eight-week-old Jack Russell puppy named ‘Teddy’.

Following further investigations, about 7.50am yesterday (Wednesday 15 December 2021), officers located the Mercedes Benz in Wattle Grove.

A short time later, police executed a search warrant at a unit on Claremont Circuit, Wattle Grove, where they located and seized items including car keys, clothing, bottles of alcohol, and the Jack Russell puppy which was unharmed.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested and taken to Liverpool Police Station, where he was charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence (x3), take and drive conveyance, goods in custody, and breach of bail.

He was refused bail and will appear at a children’s court today (Thursday 16 December 2021).
