A teenage driver has been airlifted to Westmead Hospital following a two-car crash about 25km east of Bathurst yesterday.
Emergency services were called to the Great Western Highway at Kirkconnell, about 5pm (Friday 8 March 2024), and found a hatchback and an SUV had collided.
The 17-year-old driver of the hatchback was trapped in the vehicle for more than an hour before they were released and airlifted to hospital. They are reported to be in a serious condition suffering multiple injuries.
A 17-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the hatchback, and the 29-year-old man driving the SUV, escaped with minor injuries. They were taken to Bathurst Hospital.
Traffic on the Great Western Highway was impacted for some hours while the scene was cleared.
Inquiries are now underway by Chifley Police District.
