Police have commenced an investigation after a teenage boy attended a hospital in Sydney’s south west with a gunshot wound.
About 7.40pm yesterday (Friday 7 February 2025), officers from Bankstown Police Area Command attended Bankstown Hospital after being informed that a 17-year-old boy – in company with an 18-year-old man – presented to the Emergency Department with a gunshot wound to the right leg.
The injury is not considered life threatening.
Both males refused to assist with inquiries.
The older man was arrested for concealing an indictable offence where it will be alleged he assaulted two officers and resisted arrest.
One of the officers suffered minor injuries.
He was taken to Bankstown Police Station where it will be further alleged that he made a number of threats towards officers.
The Punchbowl man was charged with six offences including:
- Conceal serious indictable offence
- Hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty
- Assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm
- Intimidate police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm x 3
The man was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 8 February 2025).
Following inquiries police seized a Blue Nissan Pulsar that was parked on the corner of Eldridge Road and Artegall Street, Bankstown, for forensic examination.
This vehicle is believed to have been used by the males to attend the hospital.
