A Matt Guy Liberals and ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s Government will commit $7 million to deliver a state-of-the-art indoor sports facility for Templeton Primary School.
Once the new facility is opened, teachers will be able to hold physical education lessons indoors during wet weather and will also be able to hold whole school assemblies.
The community will also be able to make use of the space, with the capacity to hold large meetings and events, such as art exhibitions and productions.
With a 40-year strong connection to the school, Templeton Netball Club has indicated a need for appropriate training facilities to expand their club, currently catering to more than 120 players.
Both Knox Basketball and Wantirna Wasps Basketball Clubs, with over 400 players across 55 teams, have also expressed interest in the new facility, signalling that despite the expansion of the State Basketball Centre in Wantirna, there is still a lack of basketball facilities across the City of Knox.
Shadow Minister for Education, David Hodgett said only a Matt Guy Liberals and ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s Government will deliver this facility for the Templeton Primary School community.
“After two years of remote and flexible learning, it’s more important than ever to invest in our schools and deliver quality facilities for all students, and the Liberals and ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s will do just that.”
Member for Ferntree Gully, Nick Wakeling and Liberal Candidate for Bayswater, looked forward to delivering a place for the school and sporting clubs to meet, play, train and compete.
“The Templeton Primary School community, along with Knox Basketball, Templeton Netball Club and the Wasps Basketball Club have long been calling out for this facility.”
