Lithgow City Council staff have been working hard to make temporary shower facilities available for the public during the gas outage
In response to the current gas outage affecting the entirety of Lithgow, which is expected to last for some time, Council is making available free, temporary hot shower facilities at several locations, as detailed below:
- Tony Luchetti Showground, Barton Street Lithgow. Approximately 40 showers will be available at this site. 12 showers will be connected from 7am on Saturday 5 November, with more being connected over the coming days.
- 5 showers are currently available at Lake Wallace Recreation area, Barton Avenue Wallerawang.
- 4 showers are available at Wallerawang Sports Stadium, Brays Lane Wallerawang
- 6 showers have been made available by the operators of Lake Lyell Recreation Park at a rate of $1 for 3 minutes. Gate fees don’t apply and Council continues to provide gas and water to maintain this service.
The public is also advised that until further notice the RV dump point at the Tony Luchetti Showground is closed as the area is being used for the shower facilities detailed above. An alternative RV dump point is located at Lake Wallace Recreation area.
“Lithgow City Council continues to make every effort to work with government and the private sector to anticipate the needs of the community”, said Lithgow City Council’s Mayor, Councillor Maree Statham. “We continue to press for better communication from APA and Jemena to afford our community the chance to make informed decisions as early as possible.”
