Police have charged ten people in an operation targeting those who have allegedly failed to appear in court in relation to assault, car theft and drug related offending.
Following enquiries, South Melbourne uniform police – with assistance from the Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit and the Prahran Divisional Response Unit – searched 15 addresses inside a housing unit complex on Park Street, from about 8am on Tuesday 17 October.
The operation resulted in the arrest of nine people – six men aged between 25 and 47, as well as three women aged between 22 and 52 – for offences against the bail act; including failing to appear in court for alleged drug, assault and theft of motor vehicle offences.
Several people allegedly illegally squatting after wrongfully evicting tenants were also removed from the premises. Police had the locks changed and returned the unit to their rightful tenant.
