Tender open for Peel Health Campus redevelopment forward works

  • Tender for forward works at Peel Health Campus redevelopment released
  • Enabling works will include additional public and staff car parking and a new Central Energy Plant shell
  • Closing date for tender is 8 October 2024

Redevelopment of the Peel Health Campus (PHC) continues to progress, with a tender for forward works released on Tenders WA.

Works will be completed in two stages and will include:

  • additional public and staff car parking and traffic access;
  • extension of the ring road;
  • a new Central Energy Plant shell in preparation for Western Power upgrades; and
  • relocation of the existing Central Energy Plant.

The Peel Health Campus returned to public hands in August 2024 and this major overhaul will ensure it continues to provide the best possible service to the community.

The Cook Government’s redevelopment will deliver a new mental health emergency centre, additional operating theatre, more than 60 additional inpatient beds and 15 palliative care hospice beds.

It will also deliver 12 chemotherapy places, more outpatient services, and a new build of medical imaging services, along with a reconfiguration of the emergency department and expansion of the day procedure unit.

This tender provides an opportunity for contractors to deliver significant work to support the region and the local community.

The current redevelopment budget of $152 million will be updated when final planning is complete.

The tender is available on Tenders WA and closes on 8 October 2024, with enabling works expected to commence before the end of the year.

As stated by Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson:

“We’re investing in a major redevelopment of Peel Health Campus that will ensure it continues to meet the needs of the region into the future.

“This forward works package is an important milestone in the redevelopment of Peel Health Campus, which will provide our Mandurah community with the upgraded public healthcare facilities we need.

“The redevelopment will see our region benefit from 12 chemotherapy places, more outpatient services, new medical imaging services, and an expanded day procedure unit.”

As stated by Murray-Wellington MLA Robyn Clarke:

“The Cook Government continues to invest in public healthcare in our region, and it is fantastic to see the Peel Health Campus enter this next phase.

“In addition to this major redevelopment, we are investing in a new community mental health and specialist community eating disorder service that will open in 2025.”
