Tenders called to construct new carpark for visitors to Tasman Peninsula

John Tucker,Liberal Member for Lyons

Tenders are now being called for to deliver the second stage of a new car park providing up to 50 spaces for visitors to Shipstern Bluff, Tunnel Bay and Cape Raoul on the Tasman Peninsula.

Helping our tourism industry recover from the impacts of COVID-19 will be vitally important and these upgrades will provide modern facilities and improved infrastructure for Tasmanians to enjoy, along with interstate and international travellers when our borders reopen.

The car park will add to a number of recent enhancements aimed at improving the visitor experience on the peninsula, including the redevelopment of the existing carpark, a new toilet block, track head infrastructure and track improvements to both the Shipstern Bluff and Cape Raoul walking tracks.

The Stormlea Road carpark redevelopment was funded through the Tasmanian Government’s Three Capes Track funding and will be constructed later this year.

The new car park will complement other projects currently underway or in planning on the Tasman Peninsula including stair upgrades at nearby Remarkable Cave.
