The varied technical skills and concepts behind the works of 10 practising ceramic artists, who are associated with the University of Southern Queensland, will be highlighted in a new exhibition, Terrain, which is on display at Goombungee’s Rosalie Gallery.
The exhibition runs from Wednesday, February 7 to Sunday, March 3, 2024.
The artists include students, lecturers and alumni of the University of Southern Queensland.
The participating artists include: Jennifer Baker, Peta Berghofer, Kerrie Browning, Aurora Elwell, Rosemaree Loredo, Rachel North, Jane Orme, Peter Osborn, Johanna Park and David Usher.
The exhibited works illustrate the breadth of possibility offered by the medium of clay, both conceptually and in terms of process.
Narratives that are unique to each artist find expression through various technical applications.
Directly or indirectly, each artist presents work that broadly investigates physical or psychological terrains, inviting viewers to consider how they interpret the environments of their own everyday experiences.
Terrain aims to spotlight not only the diversity in contemporary ceramic making, but also celebrate a unique sector of the ceramic community.
The exhibition’s Artist in Conversation event, featuring Peta Berghofer, Aurora Elwell, Rachel North, Jane Orme and David Usher is at 11am on Saturday, February 17, 2024. This is a free event, with no bookings required.
