Mr Henderson has a long history of helping to bring jobs and investment to the Territory. He currently serves as the Chancellor of Charles Darwin University.

Mr Liveris and Mr Henderson will lead the team of champions charged with helping to write to roadmap for the Territory’s recovery – to make the NT the comeback capital.

Because we are the safest place in Australia, we are starting the recovery before anywhere else in Australia.

We are determined to turn this once-in-a-century crisis into a once-in-a-century opportunity to bring more jobs and more investment to the Territory.

Minister for Central Australian Reconstruction

Recognising the importance of Central Australia to the Territory’s recovery, the Member for Braitling, Dale Wakefield, will be appointed the Minister for Central Australian Reconstruction.

Central Australia has been hard-hit by the economic impacts of the coronavirus crisis, and its heavy reliance on tourism means the region is critical to the Territory’s economic recovery.

Minister Wakefield will be tasked with ensuring the Territory’s roadmap to recovery delivers jobs and investment for Central Australia.

Minister Wakefield will work directly with the Chief Minister and with the Territory Economic Reconstruction Commission to ensure Alice Springs and the Red Centre has its voices heard.

As stated by Andrew Liveris:

“This is a time for all of us to work together. No matter where I am, I’ll always be a Territorian and I’ll always work to make the Territory stronger.”

As stated by Paul Henderson:

“The Territory has been the best at winning the health battle, now it’s time for us to win the economic and jobs battle. I’m proud to serve the Territory again, and proud to be on such a high-calibre team to help kick-start the Territory’s comeback.”

As noted by Member for Braitling, Dale Wakefield

“I am honoured to take on the role of Minister for Central Australian Reconstruction. From day one of being elected, I have fought for a better future for all Centralians and our community.

“I will continue to stand up for Central Australia, no matter the challenge. The reconstruction effort is about creating jobs, bringing back flights, creating investment opportunities and leading Central Australia into a new economic era with existing and new opportunities.”
