The Territory Labor Government’s vaccine rollout will achieve a vital milestone with more than 80% of Territorians set to have received their first COVID-19 vaccine dose this week.
Latest figures show 78% of Territorians have received their first dose and 66% are now fully vaccinated.
More than 61% of remote Territorians have received their first dose and 44% are fully vaccinated.
This comes ahead of the Territory Government’s commitment to transition to Stage 3 of the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Plan with 80% full vaccination rates expected to be reached in November.
The vaccine is safe, free, effective and widely available with significant supplies of Pfizer in the Territory.
NT Health vaccination teams continue to visit remote communities multiple times across all regions of the Territory to ensure every Territorian who wants to get vaccinated has an opportunity to do so.
This week NT Health vaccination teams are visiting Yulara, Yuendumu, Epenarra, Wadeye, and Gumbalanya.
Quotes from Health Minister Natasha Fyles:
“Territorians have done an excellent job rolling up their sleeves to get vaccinated and this means we are on track to enjoy more freedoms sooner.
“Getting vaccinated isn’t just about protecting yourself – it’s about protecting your family, friends and broader community.
“We will continue to focus our efforts on achieving an even spread of vaccination across the Territory working in partnership with community leaders, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations and our expert health professionals.”
