TGA seizes black salve and amygdalin during search warrant in Brisbane

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) executed a search warrant on a residential property in Brisbane, with assistance from the Queensland Police Service and Queensland Health, as part of an investigation into the alleged importation, manufacture, supply, and advertising of unapproved therapeutic goods.

During the search warrant, the TGA seized various items including:

  • jars suspected to contain black salve made using the Schedule 10 prohibited substance bloodroot;
  • capsules suspected to contain the Schedule 10 prohibited substance amygdalin (B17 laetrile); and
  • medicines suspected to contain the Schedule 4 prescription-only substances pancreatic enzymes and tadalafil.

Several items and devices relating to the alleged manufacturing and/or advertising of therapeutic goods were also uncovered and seized.

The TGA reminds individuals and businesses that serious penalties can apply for breaches of the , including fines and civil or criminal court action.
