From floods, storms and tsunamis to car accidents, missing people, advanced first aid and animal rescues, our NSW State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers are there when you need them the most.
They abseil down cliffs to rescue injured or stranded bushwalkers, spend hours searching for missing people, cut into cars to release trapped passengers, drive into wild storms when most folk are huddled at home, and dive into dangerous flood water to rescue those who need help.
It’s been a busy 12 months, with floods, storms, bushfires and a pandemic testing our resilience as a country. The last year has shown us the true value of people who put service before self.
Since today is the inaugural Thank A First Responder Day, we want to express our deepest gratitude to all those who stood side-by-side with us through the recent disasters. We also praise all those who selflessly leave their family behind to protect our communities every single day.
