The City of Perth is shining bright with events and activations

Across the 2023/24 year, the City played host to 414 events and activations – including 173 new events such as Touch Bass at Wellington Square and Fred Again at Langley Park. This is a respective 231 per cent and 150 per cent increase since 2020/21.

In response to the impacts of the COVID pandemic, the City launched it’s 2025 Events Strategy in May 2021, with a vision to become “the events heart of WA” – last year’s stats are testament to its success.

Since launching the plan, the City has continued to build on its signature events, including the family favourite Christmas Lights Trail which recorded an 18.5 per cent increase in visitation to the Lights Trail compared to the previous year. Last year’s trail also saw 99 per cent of attendees having a positive experience at the event.

The City of Perth also saw a 415% increase in repeated event bookings since the Strategy was implemented – including FringeWorld, Strange Festival and Perth Festival.

Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said events boost the City of Light’s vibrancy and economic prosperity.

“The City looks forward to another bumper event season with a reimagined summer schedule and new events like HoopsFest and AusCycle making their way into the City,” he said.
