The Fifth Direction offers Melbournians the opportunity to ‘turn inward’ through movement and meditation

: Melbourne, Tuesday January 29, 2019 – Holistic wellness outfit The Fifth Direction has opened the doors to its revitalised St Kilda studio after finalising business arrangements with former The FUNctional Project.

The venture sees The Fifth Direction’s original founder, Asher Packman, and Director of The FUNctional Project who operated the existing premise, Duncan McDaide, join forces in the creation of a collaborative space that brings together movement and meditation, offering a fully-integrated wellbeing pathway.

“Our underlying philosophy is that the most effective way to influence wellness and performance is through an alignment of the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of our lives,” Packman, the current President of Meditation Australia, said.

With a focus on quality movement, strength, meditation, breathwork and play— along with a heart-conscious connection to others and our environment — the team at the Fifth Direction aim to help people access everything they are truly capable of as human beings.

“Symbolised by our new ‘labyrinth’ logo – a movement meditation in itself – we are helping people turn inward and connect to the unlimited potential of their own true nature, providing an opportunity for a greater depth of experience and enjoyment in life,” McDaide, who spent two years as the strength and conditioning coach for Melbourne Rebels, said.

Alongside more traditional physical fitness classes and personal training, The Fifth Direction offers various forms of meditation and yoga, as well as a dedicated ice immersion facility. Regular men’s and women’s circles will also be held alongside workshops on subjects as wide-ranging as environmental health, the science of the heart and shamanic journeying.

“Our new studio brings together the best of everything, offering the community a fully-integrated wellness space where they can sit in meditation, involve themselves in meaningful dialogue with like-minded others or work up a sweat by moving their body,” Packman said.

The pair have also brought in Zane Curwen-Walker, who as both a qualified personal trainer and registered meditation teacher, is perfectly suited to the new environment.

Turn inward the ‘T5D’ way:

Mind – Train your mind with meditation techniques that improve cognitive function and mental agility.

Body – Nurture your physical health by exploring the tangible vehicle of your human experience. Run, jump, move and play.

Heart – Connect to yourself and the people around you by engaging in techniques that allow your heart to lead the way.

Nature – Dive in to the true essence of your nature by employing techniques that bridge internal and external reality. Embrace your spiritual development and own your purpose.
