There’s No Place Like Coffs

In June, City of Coffs Harbour conducted the 2022 Community and Wellbeing Scorecards and one thing is clear – the community loves living here and are proud to call Coffs home.

“Despite the challenges of bushfires and COVID-19, 91% of respondents considered our region to be a great place to live. This reflects the vitality and energy I’ve experienced since moving here,” said Natalia Cowley, City of Coffs Harbour General Manager.

Conducted by an external research company, a total of 1,107 residents completed a Community Scorecard and 901 residents completed a Wellbeing scorecard. The results provide insights into the wellbeing of the community and data on various City services.

The 2022 results identified 5 priority areas for the community:

  • roads, footpaths and cycle ways
  • health and community services
  • waste services
  • economic development
  • responsible growth and development.

Some other findings from the survey include:

  • 76% of respondents noticed positive changes in the region over the past 2 years
  • The highest performing areas for the City are sport and recreation, lifeguard services, library services, and how respect is shown for Gumbaynggirr people and their culture
  • 78% of respondents considered Coffs Harbour to be a good place to own or operate a business
  • Self-reported general health also improved with 87% of respondents providing a good to excellent rating, up from 78% in 2020
  • 80% of residents are satisfied with the opportunities to attend arts and cultural activities in the local area
  • 86% of residents said they regularly participate in recreational activities, with 32% of these participating in this kind of activity at least 3 times a week
  • 86% of residents positively rated the opportunity to participate in sporting activities.
