Big numbers are expected at Pepperina Park on Saturday 27 July for the Tony Kenny Memorial Clermont Cup, with attendees set to enjoy an afternoon of first-class racing, fashion and entertainment.
Mayor Anne Baker said the annual event was a much-anticipated date on the community’s calendar and Isaac Regional Council was proud to be a major sponsor of the event.
“Council is pleased to support the Clermont Race Club to host the Tony Kenny Memorial Clermont Cup in 2019,” Mayor Baker said.
Division 6 Councillor Lyn Jones said the annual event serves to promote the rich agricultural heritage and social significance of racing in the Isaac and wider Central Queensland.
“The feature race honours Clermont racing legend Tony (Pud) Kenny, who was a tireless worker for the local race club over many years,” Cr Jones said.
“I am thrilled to once again be a part of this great day and hope to see people from around the region turn up to support Clermont and country racing.”
Division 1 Councillor Greg Austen is happy Council was able to support this integral community event through the Isaac Community Grants.
“The Isaac Community Grants program funds local projects, events and activities which help develop resilient, adaptive and vibrant communities,” Cr Austen said.
“You will see Isaac Councillors at Pepperina Park this year, hoping to take home a win and presenting the prizes for the Isaac Regional Council sponsored race.”
Gates open on the day at 11am with a five-race program to follow.
A complimentary courtesy bus back to town for race day patrons will be running following the conclusion of the final race.
