Maribyrnong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance to identify two thieves who used stolen credit cards to purchase more than $2000 worth of items in Melbourne’s northwest.
Police have been told credit cards were stolen from cars and then used to purchase items in Sunshine, Footscray, Moonee Ponds, Ascot Vale, Kensington, Fitzroy, Abbotsford, Collingwood and Melbourne’s CBD between 28 June and 4 July.
It is believed the stolen cards were used more than 20 times at fast-food stores, petrol stations and supermarkets.
The offenders were also driving a white Toyota bearing stolen registration plates YNM529 was last seen in Bundoora after committing a petrol theft on 10 July just before 6pm.
The stolen vehicle was later located in Bundoora on 21 July.
Police have released images of a man and woman who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
The woman is believed to be aged between 18 and 25. She is described as having a thin build, fair complexion with long brown hair.
The man is believed to be aged between 20 and 30. He is described as having a medium build with a fair complexion.
