What’s happening at Penn State? Here’s a look at some of the free virtual events taking place at the University this weekend and next week:
Events
– April 27-May 1. The Penn State Alumni Association, along with support from the Lion Ambassadors and Blue & White Society student groups, is hosting a virtual Senior Week for the Class of 2020.
– May 1. Campus Recreation will host the first ever “We Are Penn State Virtual 5K” to benefit the Penn State Student Care and Advocacy Student Emergency Fund.
– May 1-8. Senior engineering students will present their capstone design projects.
– 1 p.m., May 7, . A community webinar will share reports and flash talks from the IEE and the Stewarding Our Planet’s Resources initiative.
Lectures
– 4 p.m., April 30, . David Dowdy, associate professor of epidemiology at Johns Hopkins University, will present “Simple Principles for Interpreting Complex Models: How to Make Sense of COVID-19 Projections.”
– 1:30 p.m., May 1, via Zoom. Men’s lacrosse alum Vincent Tedesco and men’s soccer alum Anthony Calvano will discuss their time at Penn State and where they are now.
– Noon, May 5. Penn State Extension educators will provide the latest on the efforts to contain the spotted lanternfly in Pennsylvania.
Exhibits
– Visitors to the HUB-Robeson Galleries online exhibitions can explore photographs, videos, interviews and more.
– The HUB-Robeson Galleries presents the photography of Zsuzsanna Nagy, a second-year master of fine arts in photography student.
– Through May 24, . A presentation of a wide-ranging selection of African art from the collection of Ambassador Allen Davis, featuring art from West, Central and East Africa.
– Through June 7, . The exhibition spotlights 30 watercolors and drawings from a diverse group of 19th-century American artists.
– Through June 30,. This virtual pop-up exhibition is an interactive gallery with images, text and informational videos for selected works. Once “inside,” explore by using your mouse or touch screen to click the navigational buttons included throughout the presentation as you tour the virtual gallery.
– Through Dec. 23, . This new University Libraries online exhibition explores the intersection of the environment, human activity and the documentary record.
