Detectives from Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit are seeking assistance from the public as they investigate the theft of almost $9,000 in cash using skimmed credit cards.
A man attended twelve ATMs across Melbourne using details from previously skimmed cards to withdraw money from the bank accounts of potentially unknowing victims between December last year and March this year.
The reported incidents occurred at ATMs in Toorak, South Yarra, Box Hill, Richmond, Springvale, Fairfield and Melbourne’s CBD, with a total of $8,790 withdrawn.
The victims who have reported unauthorised cash withdrawals have told police they do not know when or how their bank cards were compromised.
Investigators have released CCTV images of a man who may be able to assist with their enquiries.
The man is described as being Caucasian in appearance, aged in his 30s and of a medium/solid build.
He is often captured on CCTV wearing a black New York Yankees baseball cap, blue surgical mask, black hoodie with white writing across the chest, blue denim jeans and black/white adidas joggers.
Detectives continue to investigate the thefts and would like other victims to come forward.
