Three Bandidos OMCG members charged following Geelong assault

Detectives from the Echo Taskforce have this morning charged three patched members of the Bandidos Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) following a serious assault in Geelong last month.

With assistance from the Ballarat Crime Investigation Unit, early morning searches were conducted at three residential addresses in Winter Valley, Pascoe Vale and Maribyrnong.

Three men, all believed to be patched members of the Bandidos OMCG, were arrested and interviewed by police.

A 29-year-old Winter Valley man, believed to be a chapter sergeant at arms, has been charged with intentionally cause serious injury in circumstances of gross violence, intentionally cause serious injury, common law assault, affray, fail to answer bail, two counts of possess prohibited weapon and possess cannabis.

He will appear at Ballarat Magistrates’ Court today.

A 41-year-old Pascoe Vale man, believed to be a chapter president, has been charged with intentionally cause serious injury in circumstances of gross violence, intentionally cause serious injury, common law assault, affray, two counts of commit indictable offence whilst on bail, handle stolen goods and deal with property suspected of being the proceeds of crime.

A 44-year-old Maribyrnong man, believed to be a chapter sergeant at arms, was charged with common law assault, affray and possess methylamphetamine.

The duo will front Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.

Police seized a conducted electricity device (taser), a samurai sword, a quantity of what appears to be cannabis and a Bandidos OMCG vest from the Winter Valley address.

An imitation handgun and a Bandidos OMCG vest were seized from the Pascoe Vale address, while a small quantity of what appears to be methylamphetamine and a Bandidos OMCG vest were found at the Maribyrnong property.

Today’s charges follow an incident on Monday, 23 October where two men were allegedly seriously assaulted inside a licensed premises on James Street in Geelong shortly after midnight.

Police will allege a 38-year-old man was knocked unconscious in the incident, sustaining serious facial and head fractures.

A 42-year-old man sustained a bite mark to the cheek and other facial injuries.

Investigators believe the alleged attack was unprovoked and parties were not known to each other.
