Three men have been located at Cowell after a vehicle failed to stop for police on Thursday afternoon.
Just after 2.30pm on Thursday 2 April, police on the Eyre Peninsula attempted to stop a maroon coloured Holden sedan travelling north on the Lincoln Highway at high speed near Arno Bay.
The driver allegedly failed to stop and while patrols did not pursue the vehicle, they did monitor the car’s progress until it went off-road near the township of Cowell.
Later in the day, a local farmer notified police that they had seen a suspicious maroon coloured vehicle driving on its bare rims, come to a stop in a vacant paddock, with the three male occupants running off into thick scrub around the hills at Miltalie north-west of Cowell.
A police patrol attended, found the wanted car and conducted a search for the occupants late into the night. The Holden sedan was impounded and the search of the occupants was called off that night until the next morning.
On Friday 3 April, the search and investigation to locating the missing men continued. Fortunately all three men from the car were located in different areas around Cowell, after they had separated and become disoriented in the scrub and were not equipped with appropriate outdoor clothing or supplies.
All three men were conveyed to local Cowell hospital with minor injuries and dehydration.
A 30-year-old man from Port Augusta, a passenger in the car was arrested for an outstanding parole board warrant and was returned to the Port Augusta Prison.
A 28-year-old man from Whyalla also a passenger was arrested on an outstanding court warrant.
While the driver of the maroon Holden, a 32-year old man from Whyalla will be interviewed for several traffic offences at a later date after being medically cleared.
