Women’s ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Basketball League (WNBL) action will return to the Mildura Sporting Precinct (MSP) in 2023, with two blockbuster fixtures confirmed.
WNBL contenders the Bendigo Spirit will play two games at the venue in September and November, with tickets for both fixtures now on sale.
The Spirit will first test themselves against the CBL Mildura Men’s Heat side in a preseason outing from 1.30pm on Saturday 23 September, before returning to take on the Sydney Flames for WNBL premiership points on Friday 10 November from 7.30pm (gates to open from 6.30pm).
Tickets for the preseason game start at $10 for adults and $5 for children aged 6 to 17, while those aged five and under can come for free.
Tickets for the in-season game against the Flames meanwhile are $20 for adults, $16 for concession, $10 for children aged 6 to 17 and free for those under five. Families (two adults and two children) can attend for $50.
A special Pre-Game at the P package is also available for the Spirit-Flames clash, featuring dedicated courtside seats, a drink card, finger food and access to an exclusive area on the MSP lawns pre-game.
Councillor for Recreation and Events Mark Eckel encouraged the community to support both blockbuster events.
“Our local events scene continues to go from strength to strength in recent years, with our ongoing partnership with the Bendigo Spirit producing some tremendous outcomes,” he said.
“Our local basketball enthusiasts turned out in high numbers last year to support the Spirit, turning MSP into a home away from home for the players and staff.
“I can’t wait to see another full house cheering the Spirit on!”
More than 500 people are expected to attend the preseason clash, which will be a chance for our local talent to play against national stars like Alex Wilson, Kelsey Griffin and Abbey Wehrung.
The November fixture is expected to attract 1,000 spectators – rivalling last year’s red-hot crowd of just over 600. It will also be streamed live on 9Now – providing another opportunity to show Mildura and MSP to a national audience.
“The players and coaching staff are excited as we eagerly anticipate our upcoming annual trip to Mildura,” General Manager of Operations – Bendigo Spirit, David Ingham, said.
“The Mildura Sporting Precinct is a top-notch facility which sets the stage for an exceptional experience.
“When combined with the enthusiastic and passionate support of our dedicated Mildura fans, it transforms into an amazing arena, perfectly suited for showcasing some top-tier basketball action.”
