Community sport is returning to reserves across Wyndham, but with strict guidelines in place to ensure the health and wellbeing of our local community.
Wyndham City Sports Development portfolio holder, Cr Peter Maynard, said that now State Government was easing restrictions, many Wyndham clubs and teams were keen to get out and start playing and training at our outdoor facilities.
“Our sport and recreation team at Council have been busy planning a process that allows community sporting groups to return to play safely,” Cr Maynard said.
“We’ve been working closely with Sport and Recreation Victoria, as well as relevant peak sporting bodies, to come up with a plan that ensures we can get back out on local reserves while remaining safe.”
“All sporting clubs are providing us with their plans that cover hygiene, sign in processes, and social distancing while having fun and getting active.”
“Clubs are being provided with information on how to clean the toilet facilities adequately, all training drills must be modified to ensure no contact is made between participants, and if there are more than 10 people in a team – that whole team cannot train together.”
