Time to shine – finalists in WA Training Awards 2019 announced

  • ​Western Australia’s most outstanding apprentices, trainees, students, businesses that champion training, trainers and training organisations named as finalists in WA Training Awards 2019
  • Finalists showcase excellence in the vocational education and training (VET) sector 
  • Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery today announced the finalists in the 2019 WA Training Awards.

    In 2019, the Awards celebrate 25 years of excellence in the training sector through employers, organisations and training providers as well as individual talent setting the benchmark for our future workforce.

    This year saw the introduction of a new category, Medium Employer of the Year. The category was introduced to better recognise medium enterprises with 20 to 200 full time employees that have achieved excellence in the delivery of nationally recognised training.

    The Training Award categories include:

    • WA Industry Collaboration Award;
    • WA Large Employer of the Year;
    • WA Large Training Provider of the Year;
    • WA Medium Employer of the Year;
    • WA Small Training Provider of the Year;
    • WA Apprentice of the Year;
    • WA Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student of the Year;
    • WA Cultural Diversity Training Award;
    • WA School-based Apprentice of the Year;
    • WA Trainee of the Year;
    • WA Trainer of the Year; and
    • WA Vocational Student of the Year.

    Award winners will be announced in September at the WA Training Awards Presentation Dinner sponsored by the Electrical and Communications Association WA (ECA WA). Winners may also be eligible to compete against the nation’s best at the Australian Training Awards later in the year.         

    The WA Training Awards are possible thanks to its partners the State Training Board, ECA WA, Crown Perth, CCI WA Apprenticeship Support Australia, The Graham (Polly) Farmer Foundation, MEGT, Training Accreditation Council, Roy Hill, AMA Apprenticeship and Traineeship Services and Picton Press.

    “The WA Training Awards encourages continuous improvement, innovation and excellence in the VET which is crucial to building a stronger economy and a skilled and work ready workforce in Western Australia.

    “The WA Training Awards are an opportunity to really shine a light on, celebrate and honour the achievements of the many outstanding performers in the VET sector.

    “Finalists are contributing positively to Western Australia’s future and these awards are a springboard for many finalists to continue to raise the profile of their chosen careers and build on their achievements.”
