Christmas will come early to the Tamworth Region, with three events being held in the village on Saturday 9 November: Nundle Twilight Christmas Market, the CWA Art Exhibition & Sale and Nundle Art on the Street.
Inspired by European traditions, visitors at the Nundle Twilight Christmas Market can expect beautifully handmade gifts from local stallholders, twinkling Christmas lights, children’s activities, and a visit from Santa, alongside a Nativity Scene re-enactment.
Event organiser Susi Rieger, originally from Germany, wants this year’s event to capture the warmth and charm of a traditional European Christmas market.
“The market gives visitors an opportunity to experience the magic of our community and festive spirit” said Susi.
The Nundle Twilight Christmas Market will be held from 4:30pm to 8:30pm at the picturesque Nundle Woollen Mill gardens. Local artist Goldheist will perform live, and the community will sing Christmas carols led by St Marks, Armidale. Food stalls will offer a range of delicious dinner options, with seating available or the option to bring your own picnic rug. Entry for the Nundle Twilight Christmas Market event is $2, with children under 12 years free. Visitors are encouraged to bring a jacket, as Nundle is known for its chilly evenings once the sun sets.
On the same day, visitors can enjoy the CWA Art Exhibition & Sale from 10:00am to 6:00pm, and The Nundle Art on the Street event which includes live music, children’s art activities, and a preloved art sale from 3:30pm to 9:30pm.
This event is proudly partly funded by the NSW Government through the Open Streets Program in association with Tamworth Regional Council. The grant enables the temporary closure of streets to vehicles for a day, transforming these spaces into fun and dynamic areas for people to enjoy a range of community events.
Minister for Roads, Arts, Music and the Night-Time Economy, Jobs and Tourism John Graham, is excited to support these events.
“Too often our main streets are something we drive through, rather than drive to. Our streets are a critical part of our public and social infrastructure”, said Mr Graham.
“Great streets make great towns and centres and reflect the local community and culture. The Open Streets program is about temporarily transforming our main streets into vibrant and welcoming public event spaces.”
Linda Bridges, Visitor Experiences Coordinator at Tamworth Regional Council, is looking forward to seeing visitors experience the unique charm.
“Council are proudly supporting this event through the Regional Events Marketing Support Program and it’s great to have a triple treat for locals and visitors to enjoy in Nundle!”, said Linda.
“Nundle and Hanging Rock are great places to visit and explore a number of eclectic boutique shops, cafes, the Gold Mine Museum, Nundle Woollen Mill and outdoor activities on offer in our beautiful region.”
