‘Tis season! Last reminder to send your Christmas post

Australia Post

Australia Post is reminding customers to get their parcels in the post by Monday to help ensure their gifts arrive in time for Christmas. The last day to send via standard Parcel Post for most locations is Monday 12 December*.

Those who need a little more time to pick that perfect Chrissie present have until Monday 19 December* for most locations if they take advantage of Australia Post’s Express Post service.

The Parcel Post deadline for customers in Western Australia and the Northern Territory has now passed, however these customers have up to Wednesday 14 December to send via Express Post.

If you’re planning to brighten someone’s day with a heartfelt Christmas card you have until Monday 19 December if sending within the same State or Territory, or if sending interstate get it in the post by Thursday 15 December to arrive before Christmas Day.

Australia Post Executive General Manager Customer and Commercial Gary Starr said the postal service delivered 52 million parcels last December, for the second year in a row, and early indications are that 2022 will be another huge year.

“Many customers have already taken advantage of Black Friday and Cyber Monday for their Christmas shopping. The earlier you can get it done the better, to ensure all parcels make it under your Christmas tree on time.

“For those who are still finalising their gifts, we’ll continue to do our best to ensure deliveries arrive quickly and safely. We’re adding more capacity to our workforce, more delivery vehicles and more freighter aircraft. We’re also extending our deliveries into Saturdays** and later hours during weekdays**.

“We’ve handled significant volumes at this time of year before and we’ve been preparing all year for another big Christmas to ensure things run as smoothly as possible. If you miss the deadlines, we will still do our very best to get those presents delivered in time, but it’s important to know that they may not arrive until after Christmas,” Mr Starr said.

Australia Post customers are invited to check deadlines for international destinations on the website:

The Australia Post mobile app is the best way for customers to manage deliveries, including receiving delivery estimate updates and selecting the best collection point, like a free 24/7 Parcel Locker available at more than 600 locations around Australia.
