Cumberland City Council is bringing Christmas cheer to the Auburn Botanic Gardens with the Annual Christmas in the Gardens event on Saturday 10 December from 5pm to 9pm.
This free family friendly event will see the gardens decked out in the spirit of Christmas and accompanied by a line-up of entertainment on the main stage, The North Pole Party.
Visitors will be able to sing along to their favourite Christmas carols, be entertained by the Christmas Ice Wizard and pull out their dancing shoes to boogie at the Christmas Disco Party.
Cumberland City Mayor Lake said that Christmas is a special time of year for our community. “It’s been a big year, so it’s a great opportunity for the community to come together, spread some Christmas cheer and explore the Auburn Botanic Gardens in a festive way,” she said.
Santa and his elves will be busy at Santa’s Workshop, meeting and taking photos with all the good girls and boys while they decorate their own baubles and write a letter to Santa to pop into his mailbox.
Another attraction will be the Gingerbread Corner where children can meet the Gingerbread Man and get creative with decorating their own gingerbread cookies.
It wouldn’t be Christmas in the Gardens without a trip down Candy Cane Lane, where giant candy canes will be on display and a variety of food trucks will be serving up burgers, loaded fries, ice cream, fairy floss and more. There will also be stalls and children’s face painting, toys, showbags and more.
Mayor Lisa Lake said that the event is also a good opportunity to reflect on the year that was and enjoy some quality time together.
“This family friendly event will be a fun evening for all members of our community, it’s a great way to celebrate our diversity and reflect on everything we have accomplished throughout the year by spending time with our friends and family,” she said.
Council will be running free shuttle buses between Auburn Botanic Gardens and Auburn Train Station between 4:30pm and 9:30pm.
