Today, Friday 13 November, marks the first and only 13 11 20 Day and we are encouraging all West Australians impacted by cancer to reach out and ask for support by calling 13 11 20, the free information and support service run by experienced Cancer Nurses. The service is available to anyone impacted by cancer, including patients, carers, health professionals and loved ones.
During the last financial year, 5953 contacts were received by our 13 11 20 cancer information and support line in WA.
In celebration of 13 11 20 Day, we’d like to showcase what our Cancer Nurses behind the 13 11 20 Information and Support Line do. Meet Rosemerry-Rosemerry is an oncology nurse with over 35 years of nursing experience and is passionate about making sure no one has to go through a cancer diagnosis alone.
“It is a privilege to be a Cancer Nurse working on the 13 11 20 Cancer Information and Support Line, and to speak to West Australians affected by cancer giving them emotional and practical support at a difficult time in their lives. It is the conversations I have and the difference I can make in the lives of those affected by a cancer diagnosis by providing them with cancer information, access to our support programs and services, wellbeing after cancer program, and referrals to other support groups that makes every day I come to work special,” she says.
Rosemerry is just one of our Cancer Nurses in our WA support team who helps West Australians affected by cancer every day.
