Total fire bans Police will be watching

There are total fire bans in place today with severe and catastrophic conditions forecast across the State.

Police patrols, as a part of Operation Nomad, will be out and about monitoring bush fire prone areas with a focus on deliberate, reckless and negligent acts that may cause a bush fire. This can be anything from the use of power tools or farming equipment when restrictions are in place, to parking a hot car on long grass.

Police will continue to monitor 81 persons of interest during this year’s fire danger season, but also rely on the information from the public to keep our community safe. Bushfire prevention is a community effort and police are asking the public to remain vigilant. It is extremely important if you see any suspicious activity including people of cars loitering in bush fire prone areas to call the police attendance line immediately on 131 444.
