Townsville City Council is carrying out maintenance work on Castle Hill Road next week.
Council is committed to maintaining and upgrading infrastructure across our community and a record $433 million will be invested in infrastructure in 2018-19.
The works include closures of Castle Hill Road during normal work hours and some walking tracks.
The Goat Track, Cudtheringa Track and Maiden Hair Track will remain open during the works.
Infrastructure Committee Chair Cr Mark Molachino said regular maintenance of Castle Hill is needed to keep the popular spot in top condition.
“Castle Hill is a popular location for both residents and visitors to the city and that’s why Council is working on the road to keep it safe for everyone to use,” Cr Molachino said.
“The works also include improving signage, line marking and asphalt repair.”

Local Councillor Ann-Maree Greaney said the works would ensure Castle Hill remains in pristine condition.
“Castle Hill is one of Townsville’s major attractions and it’s important we keep it in fantastic condition for residents and visitors,” Cr Greaney said.
“Council is expecting the works to take five days to complete with the road closures during this time – local residents will have access to their properties with the help of traffic controllers during the week.”

Road closures will be in place at 320 Stanley Street (at the intersection of Gregory Street and Stanley Street) to the summit of Castle Hill from 6:30am – 4pm Monday 12 November until Friday 16 November 2018.
