Track opens Friday for a BMX-hilarating ride

Riders in the Clermont region can make tracks from this Friday, 5 April as the BMX Track on Collins Street has finished construction and is open to the public for use.

The $445,000 project, co-funded by Isaac Regional Council in partnership with the Queensland Government under the Works for Queensland (W4Q) program, underwent construction from 14 January by contractor BMX Tracks Australia.

Mayor Anne Baker said the 400-metre track is a wonderful new asset to Clermont’s sporting precinct.

“This is a great effort from the collaboration between the Queensland Government, Council, the Clermont community and the contractor, BMX Tracks Australia,” Mayor Baker said.

“We enjoy bringing projects like the BMX Track to fruition in our region to encourage an active and healthy lifestyle, as well as being able to showcase the great activities that can happen in a regional community.”

Mayor Baker is grateful to the W4Q program that allowed Council to deliver on the project.

“The Clermont sporting precinct has previously received funding from Works for Queensland to renew our hardcourt facilities, and the track is another great example of how funding like this can benefit a community” Mayor Baker said.

“The BMX Track will revitalise the precinct and promote Clermont as a great place to live, work and play.

“The new track also opens the door to sporting tourism, as the quality of the track is able to support state-level BMX events.”
