A one-of-a-kind renewable energy jobs expo will kick off in Traralgon in the heart of the Latrobe Valley this Friday 13th October.
“The energy transformation is happening right now in industrial regions across the country like Gippsland, and Transform Expo is an example of communities leading and creating our own future” said Wendy Farmer, Gippsland organiser for Friends of the Earth.
The inaugural two-day event is being organised by community environment organisations Friends of the Earth, Healthy Futures and Voices of the Valley in partnership with Bank Australia and the renewable energy industry.
During the Transform Expo, community members will be able to meet with major renewable energy companies with projects slated for Gippsland and community led projects, covering everything from onshore wind and solar through to offshore wind and energy storage.
The two day expo will also feature a series of inspiring workshops and panel sessions featuring experts, workers and community leaders sharing their perspectives and insights into Gippsland’s renewable energy future.
“We really want Transform to showcase the real-world opportunities, career paths and training opportunities in renewable energy for young people in our region as well as people already working in energy,” said Farmer.
With over $40 billion worth of new energy projects on the table for Gippsland, communities and industry are working together to realise the economic and social benefits of renewable energy.
Participants are also encouraged to join the ticketed opening night event featuring Victorian Energy Minister Lily D’Ambrosio alongside futurist and keynote speaker Steve Sammartino.
It promises to be an exciting and inspiring two days, with solar powered pizza, coffee and food vans on site too.
