Transurban joins the team to drive the Energy Breakthrough into the future

Australian toll road company Transurban, which owns and operates CityLink in Melbourne, has joined forces with the Energy Breakthrough to help the next generation of transport innovators.

“We’re delighted to welcome Transurban as a new partner,” Hugh Delahunty, Energy Breakthrough Chair said.

“Transurban has a really strong commitment to road safety, innovation and transport efficiency which matches ours, so a partnership like this makes great sense both now, and into the future,” Mr Delahunty added.

A key focus of Transurban’s support for the Energy Breakthrough is a new Schools Mentor program. This program will see participating students and teachers matched with Transurban employees who will act as mentors, and provide guidance, support and encouragement as they prepare their entry for the event held in Maryborough each November.

“As well as road safety and transport innovation, the Energy Breakthrough program allows us to support diversity among students studying STEM subjects. These students provide us a glimpse into our industry’s future, and to be able to mentor them and support them through the process is really rewarding,” said Wes Ballantine, Group Executive, Victoria, Transurban.

Another element of the partnership will be the hosting of the new Transurban Energy Expo, which will focus on the ‘Future of Transport’. Exhibits will include virtual reality experiences, demonstrations of cutting-edge safety technology alongside hands-on displays from a host of organisations, including Regional Roads Victoria, La Trobe University and Telstra.

The Transurban Expo will be held on-site at the 2019 Energy Breakthrough in Maryborough on Saturday 23 November with free entry.
