Families attending the first ever Christmas Pageant held at Adelaide Oval will be able to travel to the event for free, with the Adelaide Oval Express services to operate at full capacity.
For the first time in Pageant history, the 88th ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Pharmacies Christmas Pageant will be a twilight event held at Adelaide Oval on Saturday, 14 November.
Public transport services for the Pageant are being operated at the same capacity as they would for a full Adelaide Oval crowd to enable families to socially distance as much as possible.
“The Pageant is a wonderful Christmas tradition for the state, so we’re thrilled it’s being held this year at a South Aussie icon in Adelaide Oval,” Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Corey Wingard said.
“After what has been a tough year for everyone, this year’s Pageant will be even more special for families.
“To help families celebrate, the Marshall Government has given Father Christmas a travel exemption to travel over from the North Pole in his one-horse open sleigh.
“The Adelaide Oval Express public transport service will be in full operation to allow Pageant-goers to jingle all the way to and from this historic event, safely and free of cost.
“All they have to do is display their electronic ticket when they board their Adelaide Metro service to receive free travel.
“We’re also asking Pageant-goers to please be patient as they wait for their transport to and from Adelaide Oval and to be mindful to socially distance as much as possible.”
As previously announced, the Gawler rail line will be closed between Adelaide and Salisbury railway stations, due to the Gawler Rail Electrification Project. Additional substitute buses will operate before and after the event.
On average, bus and tram passengers will only have to wait between five to 10 minutes for the next service, while train passengers should only wait around 15 minutes.
Passengers are encouraged to use their best judgement and to wait for the following service if they do not feel as though there is adequate space or if instructed to do so.
Additional customer service staff will also be at the gates and turnstiles at Adelaide Railway Station to remind people of the need to socially distance.
