Trio charged after Bendigo non-fatal shooting

Armed Crime Squad detectives have charged three men in relation to an aggravated burglary and non-fatal shooting that occurred in Bendigo last year.

The charges follow the alleged assault on a man, aged 44 at the time, at a property in York Street on September 29.

It is alleged three men entered the property about 1am armed with a firearm.

The victim was allegedly assaulted and sustained a non-fatal gunshot wound to the leg during the incident.

He was airlifted to hospital for treatment.

Echo Taskforce detectives and members from the Central Goldfields Regional Response Unit assisted in the execution of warrants at properties in;

• Napier Street, White Hills;

• Alstonvale Court, East Bendigo;

• Diamond Court, Kangaroo Flat;

• Marylebone Circuit, Strathfieldsaye

• Rohs Road, East Bendigo and

• Havilah Road, Long Gully

A number of cannabis plants were seized along with two unregistered firearms, a taser and knuckle dusters.

A bag containing white power believed to be cocaine was also located at the Strathfieldsdaye property.

A 29-year-old man from White Hills has been charged with home invasion, aggravated burglary, intentionally recklessly cause serious injury gross violence, intentionally recklessly cause serious injury and prohibited person possess/use firearm.

He will appear at Bendigo Magistrate’s Court this afternoon.

A 39-year-old Kangaroo Flat man has been charged with possess cannabis.

A 29-year-old man from Strathfieldsaye has been charged with possess cocaine, possess unregistered firearms and possess prohibited weapon – taser.

Both men have been bailed to appear at Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on 13 August.
