Darwin Waterfront Rangers have been left baffled after finding all of the precinct’s on-street parking meters out of order.
Head Ranger Stuart said the parking meters would take a few weeks to repair and on-street parking fees would be waived until 1 January 2023 while meters were fixed.
“We’ve investigated the outage and discovered that the meters have been sabotaged by a naughty Christmas Elf,” Stuart said.
“It appears that the Elf has wanted to give residents and visitors an early Christmas present and more reasons to visit the Waterfront during festive season.”
The Elf has been sighted several times across the Waterfront and Darwin Waterfront staff are seeking support from the public to help apprehend the suspect.
Any sightings of the Elf should be reported to the Darwin Waterfront Corporation via their Facebook or Instagram @DarwinWaterfront.
