The upgrade of the Tullamore Pool was successfully completed, just in time for the community to cool down on the hot summer days experienced earlier this year. Parkes Shire Council secured $100,000 from the NSW Government, complemented by an additional $22,000 from the Tullamore Town Improvement Fund to support the project.
The extensive renovation work included the replacement of the entire fibreglass shell of the pool. This upgrade significantly reduces the need for ongoing maintenance and ensures the longevity of the facilities, which had been in use for 20 years prior to this refurbishment.
Cr George Pratt said the upgrade will allow the community to continue to enjoy the pool facilities for many years to come.
“Tullamore is a small town and the community pool is at the centre of this township’s social gatherings throughout the hot summer months. This is a well-used facility for people of all ages from young families to elderly citizens,” Cr Pratt said.
With these improvements, we’re enhancing a beloved community space that brings people together and provides a safe, enjoyable environment for everyone,” he added.
The Hon Stephen Lawrence MLC said the NSW Government is pleased to support the upgrade of the local pool.
“Local pools are at the heart of local communities, they are where residents come together to learn to swim, stay fit and socialise and they create a real opportunity for community connection,” Mr Lawrence said.
“I’m sure many of us have fond memories of cooling off at the local pool during the heat of summer and I’m glad the Parkes community will enjoy that opportunity for years to come.”
