Tune Into Hills Young Musicians Contest

Its time for the young musicians of The Hills to face the music in a competition which will determine the best, the sharpest, and the most note-worthy performances of the Shire.

This annual event hosted by the Sydney Hills Youth Orchestra in collaboration with the Orange Blossom Festival provides an opportunity for young people to bring their musical talent and potential to the stage.

Founding Conductor and Artistic Director Dr Brian Chatpo Koo encourages young people to participate in the contest.

“The main aim of this contest is to invoke young musicians’ passion for music, broaden their performing experience, and heighten performance for their musical journey. I expect that this event will encourage more young music lovers to contribute their talents to the Hills community.”

The contest is split into two ages groups – 12 years of age and under, and 13 to 18 years of age. Within each age group, gifted young musicians will contest for three trophies.

However, beyond the prizes, the contest is an opportunity for young musicians to develop their performing experience, contribute to the talents of The Hills Shire, and grow in their love for music.

Young musicians have the opportunity to build their classical orchestral music repertories through long term training at the Symphonic Training Program, which is proudly supported by The Hills Shire Council.

The “trilling” contest showcases the rich and colourful young talent in The Hills, full of promise not to fall “flat” as they continue to raise the “bar”.

Tickets cost $20 for adults, $15 for concession, and $10 for students.
