Turning Point For Territory

NT Government

Today marks one week since Territorians resoundingly voted for change for the better.

There is much to do, but this week has been a turning point in the Territory’s future with community safety as our first priority.

Next week the new CLP government will start to reshape the national focus on the Territory, with Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro attending ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Cabinet in Canberra and Deputy Chief Minister Gerard Maley the Northern Australia Ministerial Forum in Broome.

“The NT Electoral Commission will accept postal votes until Friday 6 September and make the declaration of all seats at 10am on Monday 9 September, after which I will announce my Cabinet Ministers.

“I will ask His Honour Professor the Honourable Hugh Heggie AO PSM, Administrator of the Northern Territory, to swear the full cabinet in at Government House on Tuesday 10 September.

“The Territory is now moving forward with hope and optimism about the future,” the Chief Minister said.

“I have outlined to the Police Commissioner that we must do whatever it takes to support and empower our police to keep Territorians safe.

“Declan’s Law will be ready for the first sittings of parliament,” Mrs Finocchiaro said.

“I am proud of what we have achieved in week 1 of our new government and this week we will continue to drive change and show the Federal Government that the Territory deserves its fair share.”
