A four week tourism campaign, designed to inspire regional Victorians to the Central Goldfields is now live.

Three television advertisements, developed to showcase all the region has to offer – aim to provide a much-needed boost to local tourism businesses and operators in the wake of COVID-19 government restrictions.

The advertisements are currently being screened on the WIN network and will also reach the metro market via social media once restrictions have eased.

Each of the three advertisements feature spectacular drone footage of the region, made possible thanks to the generosity of Leon Dwyer from Australian UAV – one of the nation’s leading drone providers – who kindly donated his skills in support of the campaign.

Leon has family in Maryborough and was more than happy to assist local tourism businesses to aid their COVID-19 recovery.

Central Goldfields Shire Chief Administrator Noel Harvey said there was no denying our local tourism businesses and operators were one of the sectors most impacted by COVID-19.

“It’s been a really difficult time for the tourism industry not only locally but nation-wide and as a Council we’re committed to doing what we can to support the sector in making a strong economic recovery.

“It’s hoped the television campaign will help entice regional Victorians to the region and also Melburnians when Metro-Melbourne restrictions are lifted in the coming weeks.

“Special thanks to Australian UAV for their generosity in capturing such spectacular drone footage which really helps sells our wonderful region.

“With the busy summer travel period just a few months away it’s really important for us to remind Victorians of all the wonderful attributes of our region ready to be explored, enjoyed and experienced.”
