A popular pedestrian bridge destroyed in last year’s Dadswells Bridge fire is set to be replaced.
Next week marks one year since the fire, which began at Mount Staplyton on February 13, 2024.
The fire caused significant damage to local infrastructure, including the wooden pedestrian bridge over Mt Williams Creek.
The blaze damage its walkway and foundation piers beyond repair.
Horsham Rural City Council has secured $305,000 in funding from the state and federal governments to support long-term recovery activities.
A key project is the replacement of the wooden bridge, originally constructed in 2008.
The bridge provided a safe crossing over Mt Williams Creek, avoiding the narrow Western Highway Bridge, and holds value for the Dadswells Bridge community.
HRCC has this week finished advertising the tender for the fabrication, transport and installation of the new bridge.
Construction is expected to start in early March and take eight to 10 weeks.
