Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery today revealed the names of schools set to become Independent Public Schools (IPS) in Western Australia in Semester 2, 2020.
Twenty-nine schools make up the eighth intake of IPS and include 15 metropolitan schools and 14 regional schools spanning the Goldfields, Kimberley, Mid-West, South-West and Wheatbelt.
Among the successful schools are 21 primary schools and an education support centre.
There are now 610 Independent Public Schools including the 29 schools announced today.
Five brand new schools opening in 2021 are scheduled to open as Independent Public Schools. These schools are Sunningdale Primary School, Brabham Primary School, Southern River Primary School, Harrisdale North Primary School and Baldivis South Primary School.
Becoming an Independent Public School provides an opportunity to build on existing school and community partnerships.
The list of the latest Independent Public Schools is attached.
As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:
“The Independent Public School program draws on the strong relationships schools have with their local communities and gives them the autonomy to make decisions that best suit their students, staff and families.”
