Two arrests linked to stolen van, South Australia

Two men were arrested overnight after a stolen van was dumped in Plane Tree Drive, Adelaide.

Police were called to Myrtle Avenue, Myrtle Bank just before 1.30am on Friday 30 September by a report of two men acting suspiciously in the street.

Patrols attended and spotted the men leaving in a stolen van bearing stolen plates.

They lost sight of the car as it headed north on Fullarton Road, towards the Britannia roundabout.

It was found abandoned a few minutes later in Plane Tree Drive.

Police searched the area with the assistance of Police Dog Duke and some roadworkers on Frome Road who advised they had just seen two men with backpacks walking past.

Police Dog Duke tracked the suspects over several footbridges and through the university grounds to the Festival Plaza where they were both arrested.

A 29-year-old Ethelton man and a 32-year-old man from Adelaide were charged with being unlawfully on premises and illegal use. The younger man was refused police bail on an outstanding warrant and will face court today. The other man will appear in court on 25 November.

The stolen van was seized for forensic examination.
