Two charged after importing more than $650,000 worth of ‘ice’

Two men will appear in court today charged over allegedly importing methylamphetamine into Sydney through a delivery service.

Earlier this month, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad commenced an investigation after a suspicious consignment was observed at a delivery depot in Sydney’s west.

During a subsequent deconstruction of the package, police located approximately 460g of methylamphetamine inside. The prohibited drugs were seized for further forensic examination.

On Wednesday (23 August 2023), an additional package was detected at the depot with inconsistencies, with police allegedly locating 470g of methylamphetamine inside.

Following further inquiries, Raptor Squad detectives arrested two men – aged 25 and 32 – at a Mount Druitt address shortly before 11am yesterday (Thursday 24 August 2023), whilst allegedly attempting to pick up the delivery.

A search warrant was later executed at a property nearby where officers located and seized more than 250g of methylamphetamine and approximately 140g of a yellow powder substance, believed to be amphetamine. All items were sent for further forensic examination.

The potential street value of the methylamphetamine seized is estimated at more than $660,000.

The two men were taken to Mount Druitt Police Station and charged with import commercial quantity of border controlled drug.

Both men were bail refused to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court today (Friday 25 August 2023).
