A 29-year-old man from Lenah Valley has been charged with high range drink driving after being involved in a single vehicle crash in Hobart overnight.
Police attended the scene and took the man into custody where he later returned a breath alcohol reading of 0.192, almost four times the legal limit.
There were no injuries as a result of the crash.
The man was charged with high range drink driving and was immediately disqualified from driving for 12 months.
Police also charged a 37-year-old female from Bridgewater after being detected driving on the opposite side of the road in the Brighton area at about midnight.
Inspector Brett Berry said the woman was charged with driving offences, high range drink driving, and drug related offences and will appear in court at a later date.
“Alcohol and drugs are major factors in road related fatalities, and we urge everyone to abstain from driving after consuming alcohol or illicit drugs for the safety of all road users.”
“It is disappointing to see that people are still willing to risk drink driving, endangering their lives and the lives of others,” said Inspector Berry.
